GROUP ANALYSIS OF IKEA
“No matter what style you prefer there is something for everyone. We are here to create a better everyday life for the many people"
This project was a wearable technology extension brand of IKEA & a product sold at the store. The product is based on the research done on sudden death syndrome of young infants (SIDS). Bebis allows the mother to keep their child close, free up their movements, and allows for constant health tracking while the baby is placed in the product.
The name bebis comes from the Swedish term for baby. I chose this name to follow the name system IKEA uses Swedish names to name their products.
DESIGN PROCESS
INITIAL CONCEPTS
INITIAL REFINED CONCEPT
My 1 pass through this concept consisted of a mother’s cloth wrap with a hard shell material holder for the baby to lay in when the mother is not carrying the child. I had difficulties finding a plausible way to attach the cloth wrap to the shell, so I re-designed the wrap feature. The bracelet was the added health tracking feature, however, I felt the bracelet was overwhelming in the design and decided to find a more efficient way to track the child's health.
